Sweet Rain, Stan Getz full album видео, альбом Стэн Гетц
"Sweet Rain" is a jazz album by Stan Getz, released on the Verve record label in 1967. I've been a Getz fan for over a half century, and vividly remember when this album was first released (the same year I joined the Navy). I view this as his third phase segueing from an identifiable Lester Young influence to Brazilian and into this freer style. Actually, there was a short bridge between the Lester Young influenced style and the Bossa Nova phase, but it flew by quickly. Listen to the sound samples on this page and you will hear Getz backed by a rhythm section along the same lines as Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian backing Bill Evans or Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams backing Miles Davis and Wayne Shorter. The rhythm is free and flowing, even on tracks like O Grande Amor where the rhythm section is loosely tied to formula of Brazilian music. On this album Chick Corea on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Grady Tate on drums prove to be on the same level as the aforementioned rhythm sections. In fact, this album serves as a study in flow and interplay backing a front line melody instrument played by the likes of Getz. I do want to point out that the credits on the track listing (at the time of this review) make no sense whatsoever. For example, tracks 1, 4 and 5 credit Bill Evans and Chick Corea and Stan Getz. First, Evans is nowhere near this album, and second, composer credits for tracks 1 and 5 go to Corea, to Jobim and DeMoraes for track 2, to Mike Gibbs for track 3 and to Dizzy Gillespie for track 4. This album was recorded for Verve in just two days (March 21 and 30, 1967) at Rudy van Gelder's Englewood Cliffs, NJ studio. It's certainly a transitional album for Getz, and is a bit on the short side at 37:29, but is recommended for die hard fans...(By Mike Tarrani; March 31, 2015;Amazon) _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Tracklist: 01.Litha (Chick Corea)...(00:00) 02.O Grande Amor (Antonio Carlos Jobim)...(08:22) 03.Sweet Rain (Mike Gibbs)...(13:08) 04.Con Alma (Dizzy Gillespie)...(20:20) 05.Windows (Chick Corea)...(28:27). ___________________________________________ Personnel: 1.Stan Getz - tenor sax 2.Chick Corea - piano 3.Ron Carter - bass 4.Grady Tate - drums. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Genre:Jazz Recorded: at Van Gelder Studio,Englewood Cliffs;N.J;March 21 & 30, 1967. tr.1-3 (March 21);tr.4-5 (March 30) Label:Verve Records – V-8693 Engineer – Rudy Van Gelder Engineer [Director of engineering] – Val Valentin Photography By – Tom Zimmermann Original liner notes - Johnny Magnus Producer – Creed Taylor.
